Start from the top down - Reduce the salaries of the Governor, his staff and legislative body by 10%
It is ridiculous to continue to demand sacrifices from those are can no longer afford any more. Lead by example and cut salaries and perks from the highest ranks first.

Each year many decisions are made to make the budget balance. In the years the state is flush, employees get raises plus the legislators up their own salaries. In bad years only the employees take a hit while the legislature gives themselves pats on the back for a good job done. JFAC wants across the board cuts. I agree, lets start in the legislature and cut then see if it is needed to cut employee wages. All needs to make sacrifices not just the low end employees. I also agree with another blog stating there is too many bosses. Cut out about 1/2 the middle men between the big bosses and the employees and you could save bundles.

A true leader leads by example. Let's see a little personal sacrifice on the Governor's part. And please remember that not all Idahoans hold to Libertarian anti-government philosophies.

I 100% agree with this proposal. It seems that it is those that need the jobs the most that lose them first. Cuts come first, to part time and low level employees and work their way to towards the top. This only enlarges he unemployed population and further burden the social services sector. Why is it not discussed to begin pay cuts at the top before eliminating jobs at the bottom?

If this furlough thing goes through, will the Governor be furloughed as well? Are legislators furloughed? Their benefits should be furloughed.
