Education: Public Schools & Universities spend the most Cut nickel & dime expenses.
Schools & Universities spend by far the most, I do not propose we cut hours that cuts income and cuts spending. However there are things that can be cut, for example I know that public schools and Universities leave lights on in gyms and class rooms when they are not being used. Implement strict guidelines for those types of things, if we take 703 public schools and each saves 2% in their budget not by cutting salaries but adjusting the spending on a few little things that is a savings of 24 million dollars alone. Colleges And Universities are the same take the 27 and have them look on way to cut those little things and that is saving 6 million. We all know that each and every one of us have made cuts in our own homes, yes maybe we have not cut out big things but thing that we ca live without. There must be things that the schools Colleges and Universities can live without, or find a way to lower the cost of current expenditures.

I know that there is places that spending can be cut in schools. I really think in a community like mine, where we are bussing about 60% of students, a 4 day school week is adequate. It will save money on gas, lighting, heating and cooling of buildings. It will give teachers a day (friday) to prepare for the next school week and to aquire any further training.
We have to look at our education spending and cutback where necessary. I don't understand when the governor says cut back on education we all gasp! It is the biggest expense and there is alot of great programs that we can't afford right now. I think it is vital for our children that we cut back and keep our state on budget so, when they grow up they are not burdened with taxes and an education system that they cannot sustain.
