Increase seat belt fine
Increase the fine for those not wearing their seat belts. This increased revenue should then be directed at the state Catastrophic Fund.

And therein lies the crux, for me. Let's solve the central problem, which is that individuals should bear the cost of their own actions. Yes, if I am injured more seriously because I choose to not wear a seatbelt, I should pay for it.
As with others, I choose to wear a seatbelt because it makes logical sense.

I agree with all. (Swank) DItto! I wear my seat belt because I want to be safe and protect myself from harm, not because of a fine. (noital2010) Ditto again. Since taxpayers pay for the hospital bills of those that can't afford to pay it, i can see where this law would be a measure to protect my tax paying dollars. Ditto thrice Stealing is bad.

Paying for medical bills that could be haven preventable is like stealing in my book. BTW stealing is bad in both our books.

The government was not instituted to make money off the people, nor to protect the citizens from themselves. I wear my seat belt because it is a good safety device not because of fear of a fine. Making money off the public is akin to stealing in my book.

Okay heres the deal. The county's indigent fund is responsible for the first $10,000 of an indigent's health care, after this the state pays the rest. I believe the CAT fund is fully funded by the state's general funds. If this fine could be used to offset general funding, it would help the state of the Idaho in particular education, health/welfare. Joe, Danielo, and Jeb if you don't want to wear your seat belt- a-OK with me- your choice but with your choice comes your responsibility to PAY for all consequences associated with your choice. If everyone was responsible for themselves, we wouldn't need this, but that isn't the case.

I think the seat belt law sucks. Its just more govt. control over the people in a worthless attempt to make money because of govt. squandering.

Count me as against this one as well. Joe said it well.

I would disagree with this one, I do not believe we should have a seat belt law in the first place. the government was not instituted to make money off the people, nor to protect the citizens from themselves.
