Consolidate benefit programs
I have worked for for the dept for numerous years. In the last few years, they have begun to set up recertification centers. One for medicaid and one for food stamps. This now makes many people touching the same case. No one knows what is going on with the case. You could save considerable amount of money by closing these centers and put the cases back in the local offices. We gave 2 positions to each center but this was not enough so they have hired double what they were to make the centers run. This making the budget out of control. The centers close cases for every little thing they can find and send it back to the local office anyway so why not eliminate this and do recertifications back with the locals who know the local jobs and the people.

I agree. I also work for one of the local offices and have seen the recertification center close cases for no reason. This is unfair to Idaho families and to the workers in the local office. This increases (keeps it the same as before) the foot traffic in the local office. People are starting a new case every 6 mos with food stamps and every year with Medicaid. This is more work than was ever given before.
