Consolidate School Districts
Consolidate school districts based on student population (average daily attendance), geographic location, and city/county.

In addition to my other post, by consolidating districts there is no reduction in teacher to student face to face time thus should not negatively impact student performance as Mr. Luna is so concerned about.
Another add to this consolidation would be offering early retirement packages to those teachers within 2 years of their rule of 90 dates. this would enable districts to keep their newly hired teachers under 3 years who are currently at risk to be cut due to the budget situation. The new teachers are our future in education, coming to us with the latest in technology capabilities and current teaching strategies. Those close to retirement are going to retire anyway. -

District should be consolidated based on county lines. Only exception might be Boise School District and Meridian School District due to their student population already. There are way too many school districts that amange less than 200 students. I am surprised this wasn't an option looked at coming into this fiscal year. Looking forward the next 2 years are not going to be much better.

Agree, we shouldn't be raising levees on schools that have less then 70 children in school, all within approximately 8 - 15 miles from each other. Central Idaho is a perfect example. Culdesac, Craigmont, Nezperce, and Prarie High school could combine for a total 15 minute commute for each school and would have an attendence of approximately 160 - 180 children.
