Don't do the drug test nor give out welfare. If you are going to give away money, require the person to work in the local library, school, hospital, or some government office. Nothing should be for free because it breeds laziness and to expect something for nothing.

I have to completely agree.
When I was in the military (years ago), if you were single, you were provided a space in the barracks. If you were allowed to NOT live in the barracks, you had to pay your own rent. Now, however, the Navy will give you BAQ if you choose to NOT live in the barracks. I went to one barracks that held 500 people and there were about 50 living in it. When I reported it to my Senator and he had the Navy Department investigate it, the Navy found 12 million dollars in "Waste, Fraud, or Abuse" on the island of Oahu only.
If the taxpayers are providing a domicile, that is all we should have to subsidize.

Taxes on earnings are unconstitutional as they are implemented in the United States. Sales tax is a justifiable tax; and, if there are any loopholes that are not lawful, they should be closed. I am in the middle to low-middle class on the "income" scale and I recognize that people with money are the ones who make every major corporation expand and increase hiring. Small businesses are striving for a better life and that normally translates into becoming wealthier. The byproduct of that is also employing more people. Taking away the emotion of greed would destroy corporate America and cause millions to be unemployeed.

Both the Federal and State Governments should observe NO holidays with pay; but have only 4th of July, Christmas, and Thanksgiving off. As a veteran, I don't think Veteran's Day should be taken off.

I agree! Also, in Japan (where the quality of education is very high), the school are very plain looking buildings (2 stories or more) with no grass or landscaping that has to be maintained. All playgrounds, football/soccer fields and other grounds are "sand." Rather than spending so much time and money on frivilous things that are eye pleasing and we are complaining about not having enough money for books, etc., maybe we should get back to basics.

Absolutely it should be eliminated. That will never happen as most school district school boards are made up of people like Obama who does not keep it's word. The Post Falls School District, when it implemented kindergarten in Post Falls, said it would eliminate kindergartens if it's budgets could not be met and grades 1-12 would suffer. I knew that was a lie from "hell" when I heard them say that. We have had many fiscal problems which ended up costing the taxpapers millions in building new schools. They also placed the kindergarten in a building they (the schoolboard) stated was too unsafe for human habitation and need a new elementary school to replace it. Low and behold, they got their new elementary school and placed kindergarten and the alternative high school in that building.

If I understand the author correctly, I agree. The Amendment that caused the Senators be voted on by the people should be repealed. The State Legislatures elected the person they wanted "to represent the state." The Representatives were meant to represent the PEOPLE.

Property taxes are unconstitutional as they are a direct tax. In order to a property tax to be constitutional, it would have to be the same amount paid by every individual who owns property. Because of property taxes, I cannot own a home overlooking Coeur d'Alene Lake, on Coeur d'Alene Lake, or on the Spokane River because the increased property tax value would be probitive. That is unconstitutional. I have the lawful right to own property anywhere and enjoy the scenery or lapping of a lake or river and not be forced out of that market by some "rich dude."

If 4 day work weeks would help the state balance it's budget, that is what should happen. This has NOTHING to do with schools. Having government workers off on Friday has nothing to do with school.
