  1. Consolidate the University System

There are three state universities in Boise! Idaho should have one university system for administration purposes. Also, classes should be readily transferrable from one university to another.

  3. Drug test anyone receiving Government aid money.

Drug test anyone receiving any government money such as Section 8 and Food Stamps. If they fail the test then revoke their cash flow and spend it somewhere else that will make a difference. At the very least, spend the money to enroll them in a drug rehab program instead of letting them continue to suck our system dry.

  4. Education: Public Schools & Universities spend the most Cut nickel & dime expenses.

Schools & Universities spend by far the most, I do not propose we cut hours that cuts income and cuts spending. However there are things that can be cut, for example I know that public schools and Universities leave lights on in gyms and class rooms when they are not being used. Implement strict guidelines for those types of things, if we take 703 public schools and each saves 2% in their budget not by cutting salaries but adjusting the spending on a few little things that is a savings of 24 million dollars alone. Colleges And Universities are the…

  5. Concentrate higher education on classes and learning - get rid of useless bureaucracies

Idaho universities spend millions every year paying bureaucrats to vegetate in academically useless black holes. Entities like UI's Office of Multicultural Affairs and BSU's Women's Center take money away from legitimate classes and research and provide nothing in return.

  7. Why don't we go to a single license plate vehicle tag?

A single plate on the rear of the vehicle.
Illinois says that it will save the state between $750,000 and a million, annually.

19 states are already adopted this system

  8. Reducing postal costs for PCS clients, as well as all Health and Welfare payments

Each week we receive two mailings relating the data about our reimbursement for the week. It would reduce costs to mail once every 2 weeks, and notify concerning direct deposit payments electronically. If I wanted a mailing, I wouldn't have direct deposit.

  9. Tax Credit for students graduating on time

Students who graduate on time should be given a one-time $500 tax credit for their accomplishment. This will help encourage students to choose a course of study and focus on their studies to graduate on time. This will also help reduce the number of students in the higher education system at a time.

  11. Make Employees/Employers Responsible

Employee's that do not do their jobs, take up space and resources, should be fired. It's time to get rid of the good ol' boy system and make people accountable. That's a big savings alone.

  12. Change Idaho Schools!

I think schools should go down to a four day week because it would cost the government less money, and the money parents would be spending would help out the day cares, and help the economy because those day cares will have more money to spend which in turn will put more money into our economy. This way schools could spend the money they get on keeping extra curricular programs like sports and art classes while keeping the budget down because they wont have to pay to have the kids there another day. Also, maybe increasing lunch prices by $.50

  13. Eliminate Tobacco

I think that Idaho should outlaw or extremely limit the use of tobacco products. Annually, the state governments spend 13.3 billion dollars paying for medical issues that are a direct result of smoking. That amounts to over 26 million dollars (on average) per state. Were smoking to be eliminated or severely restricted, that would be 26 million more dollars that could be put towards something else.

  14. Taking away the SAT and ACT tests

I believe in order to save money the state should cut the SAT and ACT tests. These tests do not determine if one is smart enough or not for college. A student’s school transcripts show enough. They show if the student tried to push themselves and take hard classes. The transcripts show if the student tried or not all four years of high school. One test that students dread to take one early Saturday morning I believe definitely does not show how smart a student is. If we cut these tests, the state will not have to pay for the…

Compel IRS to add more staff to investigate use of non-taxable fuels on highway vehicles. OR add staff to Tax Commission to do this. Gas receipts are down.. What is the statistics on dyed fuels volumes?

  16. Cut state employees paid holidays

On Monday I was shocked that both the Department of Labor and the Library were closed. I have never had a job where I got MLK day off. Presidents Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day and Idaho Human Rights Day are all state holidays that are not normally recognized by the private sector. I would be curious to know exactly how much all these extra holidays are costing the state. Maybe some state office could close that day and employees could have the option to use vacation. This is what the private sector does. I know someone will argue that private…

  17. Dont go to 4 day schhool Week! "Donate a Dollar" box, change it to give $10, $5, or $1 to the State

I just found out that the Boise Schools will be going to a 4 day week next year due to cuts ordered by the Gov. I hope the Gov and the legislators realize that they might be cutting the budget but they also are taking money directly from the parents of the students. I am a parent of 2 children. My wife, or I or will either have to take a day off from work or pay day care for my 2 children. This will add up to several hundred dollars a month. We cannot afford this! Please rethink this…

  18. Get a New Parks & Rec Director

Fire the Director of Parks & Rec! When faced with the reality that P & R will be eliminated, she now comes up with a $4.5 million dollar business plan. NOW she'll begin to operate the agency like a business? Really?! What was she doing for the last 4 years? If a director in the private sector operated that inefficiently, they would get canned. Run it like a business and can the director.
