  1. Make agencys responcible for themselves

Rather than concentrating on makng thr capital building more effeicient, why not put more people to work and create sales tax income, state tax fuel taxes, the basics. Why not put the State Inmates Back in prision and Let the Unemployed back to work? Who's gonna make more money? Why 'doctor' the number by saying the Unemployment numbers for January and Febuary will be down. Tell why... People like me who have used all thier unemployment benifits bucause they cannot find work. Partly because we have undocumented worers who send there tax money to mexico. Or The State Prisinor that…

  2. make local offices again

I no longer have a worker at our local office. I have to call 800 numbers to talk about my account. why not make local people again and get rid of the call centers. That would save a bunch of money as it would decrease workers.

  3. Statewide 4 day workweek

The State of Utah operates a 4 day workweek. This has yielded annual savings of $4.8 million dollars. This savings came from (1) Decrease in overtime from state employees, (2) Energy savings, (3) Reduction in janitorial contracts, and (4) decrease of 3 million miles on the state fleet. After a year of operating a 4 day work week, 82% of Utah state employees found this schedule favorable. * Excluded from the 4 day work week were those agencies such as Dept. of Correction, Dept. of Juvenile Corrections, etc.

  4. Tax Services

Why not put a sales tax on services, no sales tax on food or clothing. this would increase the revenue as well as place the tax more fairly on those who have and help those who have not.

  5. There should be one health insurance pool for everyone

Get rid of insurance pools by company. There should be one pool for the whole state. I have the same health risk regardless of the size of my company. In anycase, Big Blue insures me where ever I go, so it really does not matter who I work for.

  6. Consolidate the University System

There are three state universities in Boise! Idaho should have one university system for administration purposes. Also, classes should be readily transferrable from one university to another.

  7. Cut state employees paid holidays

On Monday I was shocked that both the Department of Labor and the Library were closed. I have never had a job where I got MLK day off. Presidents Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day and Idaho Human Rights Day are all state holidays that are not normally recognized by the private sector. I would be curious to know exactly how much all these extra holidays are costing the state. Maybe some state office could close that day and employees could have the option to use vacation. This is what the private sector does. I know someone will argue that private…

  8. Why don't we go to a single license plate vehicle tag?

A single plate on the rear of the vehicle.
Illinois says that it will save the state between $750,000 and a million, annually.

19 states are already adopted this system

  9. Dont go to 4 day schhool Week! "Donate a Dollar" box, change it to give $10, $5, or $1 to the State

I just found out that the Boise Schools will be going to a 4 day week next year due to cuts ordered by the Gov. I hope the Gov and the legislators realize that they might be cutting the budget but they also are taking money directly from the parents of the students. I am a parent of 2 children. My wife, or I or will either have to take a day off from work or pay day care for my 2 children. This will add up to several hundred dollars a month. We cannot afford this! Please rethink this…

  10. Online services gap annalysis.

Idaho’s citizens have access to dozens of online services however, the state has gaps in its online portfolio. To improve cabinet level administrative services the state should identify online projects that can decrease costs, generated additional revenue, and improved customer service. Services like criminal background checks, temporary vehicle license plates, driver license renewals, Inmate banking, payments to state Universities any kind of permitting (AG, DEQ etc.) or a central payment center for all agencies.

  11. Reduce Idaho state tax exemptions by 25% which will bring in over twice the budget deficit.

Most of our state tax exemptions should be eliminated. Without these exemptions our state fund would be increased by around 1.5 billion dollars. If we just reduced it by 25% we would have more than enough money to pay for our schools and the other budget items.

  12. Tax Credit for students graduating on time

Students who graduate on time should be given a one-time $500 tax credit for their accomplishment. This will help encourage students to choose a course of study and focus on their studies to graduate on time. This will also help reduce the number of students in the higher education system at a time.

  13. Stop waisting money on ground breaking and dedication cerimonies for highway projects

Why do we need to have a cerimony or a dedication for basic infrastructure? Sign the needed documents and get to work, when the work is done, open the road. we really don't need any kudos for doing the job that is expected.

  15. Dyed Fuels vs. taxable fuels

Compel IRS to add more staff to investigate use of non-taxable fuels on highway vehicles. OR add staff to Tax Commission to do this. Gas receipts are down.. What is the statistics on dyed fuels volumes?

  16. Concentrate higher education on classes and learning - get rid of useless bureaucracies

Idaho universities spend millions every year paying bureaucrats to vegetate in academically useless black holes. Entities like UI's Office of Multicultural Affairs and BSU's Women's Center take money away from legitimate classes and research and provide nothing in return.

  18. Eliminate Women's & Hispanic Commission, and IPT

Eliminate funding to these two commissions. Cut funding to IPT. Oregon doesn't sponsor Public Television. Public Television must raise funds and charge for its services.

  20. Charge a rational fee for State employee parking.

A monthly Capital Mall parking tag costs $5/month. A parking space costs many tens of times this amount to maintain. Charge a rational fee for parking. As a side benefit of saving tax money, perhaps it will encourage employees to find wiser ways of commuting.
